Virginia Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad members, Auxiliary Police Officers, Sheriffs, and Volunteer Police Chaplains are exempt from the local vehicle registration (LVR) fee on one vehicle. The vehicle must be owned or leased by active volunteers or inactive volunteers with 10 or more years of service.
\To qualify for the exemption, a Declaration for Local Vehicle Registration Fee Exemption Form must be completed. Submit the completed form to the Chief of Fire Company or Rescue Squad, Chief of Police, Sheriff, or directly to the Commissioner of the Revenue's office.
Declarations on file are valid until an amended declaration is filed or other notification is made to the Commissioner of the Revenue.
